The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Published on November 29th, 2010Still trying to figure out what to get your parents for the holidays? I mean, they probably already have just about everything they need. How about a gift of safety? A gift that shows genuine concern for the folks that raised you. A gift within your budget. Give them some simple, but potentially life-saving home improvements.
Walk through their house. Do they have enough nightlights? Do they have phones with big enough numbers? Are area rugs secured with two-sided tape? Do they have lever-style faucets? Does their bathroom have grab bars? Do the light bulbs in their home provide ample wattage? Does their shower have non-skid strips? Really, the list is pretty long of all the little things you can do to help make your parents’ home safer. Click here for more ideas. Then go find a big, pretty basket and fill it with some nightlights, high-wattage light bulbs, two-sided tape, a new phone, maybe a new faucet then put a big bow on it. And in reality, it will be a gift for you too. Doing a little something to help your parents’ home keep them safe provides some piece of mind for you.
